"It'll be deadly" - Despite Randy Orton injury, WWE hit a homerun with major Kevin Owens moment, feels veteran

After their encounter ended with a brawl at Crown Jewel, Randy Orton and Kevin Owens came face-to-face a couple of weeks ago on SmackDown. The Viper was filled with rage over his former tag team partner's actions and called him out to a fight. However, things ended badly for Orton after Kevin Owens delivered a Piledriver to him.

Following the massive attack, WWE revealed that The Viper was diagnosed with cervical cord neurapraxia which will see him out of action for an indefinite period. While Owens injured Orton, the way WWE sold the attack is being appreciated around the world.

In a recent edition of The Jim Cornette Experience, Cornette applauded WWE for their work on the angle and stated that any other superstar using the Piledriver again would make him 'deadly.' The veteran also stated that the company hit a homerun after using a banned move, thanks to the incredible sell from Orton as well as the commentators.

"This is the way you do it, and it's a Piledriver. When they find somebody besides Owens that can really give a good one, then it'll be deadly because a big star sold it," stated Jim Cornette [2:34 onwards]

Cody Rhodes wants to avenge Randy Orton's injury

Randy Orton's long-time friend, Cody Rhodes, called out The Prizefighter during this week's edition of WWE SmackDown. However, Nick Aldis made an appearance to reveal that Owens was not allowed in the arena following his attack on Randy Orton.

After a request from the Undisputed WWE Champion, the Stamford-based company announced that Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes would come face-to-face during the upcoming edition of WWE SmackDown. This has garnered a lot of attention among fans. Time will tell what WWE has in store for both men on the blue brand.
