"It's CM Punk, he hasn't had anything" - Major WWE name goes off on The Straight Edge Superstar after SummerSlam
A major WWE Superstar had some words for CM Punk following SummerSlam 2024. Newly crowned United States Champion LA Knight jokingly took a shot at Punk after the event.
Knight finally won his first major singles championship in WWE after beating Logan Paul in a very intense matchup. Meanwhile, Punk was defeated by Drew McIntyre in a one-on-one bout, with Seth Rollins as the special guest referee.
At the SummerSlam post-show press conference, The Megastar was answering questions from the media about the doubts throughout his career. He was telling a story when Punk briefly interrupted him. In response, the United States Champion told The Second City Saint to "calm down" in a playful manner.
"Who's talking? Calm down out there, sir. You're drunk. You've had too much. It's CM Punk. He hasn't had anything," Knight said. [27:10 - 27:20]
It was a friendly banter given the nature of the event on Saturday. LA Knight referred to CM Punk's straight edge lifestyle with a joke as he wrapped up his part of the press conference.
The Second City Saint was not available to speak to reporters after losing to Drew McIntyre. It will be very interesting to see what Punk has in store for fans on Monday's WWE RAW.
Triple H praises CM Punk-Drew McIntyre match
At the same post-show press conference, Triple H praised CM Punk's match against Drew McIntyre, with Seth Rollins as the special guest referee. Before the contest began, the trio paid homage to the Bret Hart vs. The Undertaker bout at SummerSlam 1997, where Shawn Michaels was the special match official.
While Punk wore black and pink attire to honor Hart, McIntyre was wearing a Lord of Darkness-like robe before the match, and Rollins was in a cropped referee shirt like HBK back then. The match had some intense moments, with Triple H calling it a "masterpiece."
"CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, I thought was a masterpiece. Just, what a story. The moments all the way through, when you really break it down and you think like so much drama and tension and just how good it all was based on a $1 or a 50-cent bracelet, right? That's part of storytelling. The storytelling was epic, off the chart," Triple H said. [1:01:09 - 1:01:36 in the video above]
With Punk advertised to appear on WWE RAW in Baltimore, Maryland, it will likely be chaotic, with Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre possibly in attendance.
