"It's a house show" - WWE veteran highlights a major issue with Sami Zayn's segment on RAW (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo spoke about Sami Zayn confronting Imperium this week on RAW. The former Intercontinental Champion cut a passionate promo before the WWE Universe.
During the segment, Sami mentioned that he wanted to become the World Champion, and standing in front of his hero Bret Hart last week reminded him of why he joined this business. He called out Gunther and claimed that the star was afraid of him.
Ludwig Kaiser then came out followed by The Ring General. The champ denied Sami's challenge and then Kaiser blindsided Zayn. However, Sami fought back and planted Ludwig with a Helluva Kick as Gunther watched from the outside.
During this week's Legion of RAW, Russo detailed that WWE barely did anything to get heat on the heels. He pointed out the incident from this week where Kaiser attacked Sami but the babyface immediately got retribution by hitting him with the Helluva Kick. He feels the creative team was pandering to the fans, making the weekly television a glorified house show:
"They did this thing tonight where Kaiser gets on Sami Zayn. Then Sami Zayn gets the Helluva Kick. You know why? It's a house show. That's what you do on a house show. Babies are up on a house show." [From 38:42 onwards]
Sami Zayn has the psychological edge over Gunther, having ended his 666-day Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania XL.
It will be interesting to see if the Ring General grants Sami his title opportunity in the coming weeks ahead of Bad Blood.
