"It's nothing personal" - Veteran explains why Cody Rhodes should not become the face of WWE (Exclusive)
Despite Cody Rhodes being one of the most prominent Superstars in WWE, a veteran believes that he should not be pushed to be the top name in the company.
The American Nightmare has managed to stay a fan favorite despite losing against Roman Reigns last year at WrestleMania. Many fans also believe that Cody may get another title shot against the Tribal Chief this year, again at the Showcase of the Immortals.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo, Vince Russo explained why he would not push Cody to be the top guy:
"If I am the WWE, I am sorry bro but I don't see Cody Rhodes as my hood ornament. I just don't, I am just being totally honest. It's nothing personal. It's what I have seen since he set foot back in the WWE. This guy is not gonna get you mainstream. He's not gonna get you your casuals back. Your audience is not gonna grow one iota with Cody Rhodes as the champion." [6:11 onwards]
Vince Russo believes WWE is losing confidence in Cody Rhodes
According to Vince Russo, the Stamford-based company themselves may not push Cody Rhodes to the top spot.
In the same episode of Writing with Russo, the veteran stated:
"I don't think they are feeling Cody like they wanna feel Cody. I am telling you bro I think there is a little, there is just a little lack of confidence in Cody being the guy. I feel that, I do feel that's the game plan bro. Roman's gonna go over the Rock, and then Cody is gonna win, you know that's gonna help. I just don't feel the confidence is there right now. " [From 02:13 onwards]
As of now, only time will tell what the creative department has planned for the American Nightmare.
