"It's sickening" - Ex-WWE figure calls out major backstage issue under Triple H's regime (Exclusive)

Ex-WWE figure Vince Russo isn't a fan of one major aspect of WWE under the Triple H regime. In his opinion, it's "sickening," and he went into detail about why he isn't a fan of it.

On The Coach and Bro Show exclusively on Backstage Pass, ex-WWE head writer Vince Russo said that the favoritism in the Triple H regime of WWE is "sickening" and explained why.

"This is what is so sickening to me. You watch these RAW shows, and I got to watch them all because I get paid good coin to watch these shows. It is so crystal clear who the favorites are. They're playing favorites because the people that are featured have no business whatsoever being featured. You can watch that show you know who's kissing who's backside and who's in love with who, and then you got the Bianca Belair's and Jade Cargill's. Oh, they don't have a match, bro, so they're going to host the show. It is so clear who the favorites are in that company; it's sickening." (From 2:04-2:57)

Jonathan Coachman responded that the big difference between the current era and when he began in the Attitude Era was that it was all about who the biggest draw was, who got the biggest reactions, and who had the best matches - stating that it was more merit-based.

Coachman gave further insight, stating that the price of pay-per-views back then was a big determining factor, as it was more than the current price people pay for streaming services where they get all premium live events.

The reason he said that was because there was a much clearer metric back then of who was a draw, so it became easier to push superstars. However, with WWE securing multi-billion dollar broadcast deals in the current age, there's less of that pressure.

Triple H received some backlash for his response to the criticism of WWE's "lack of representation"

Triple H, being in the position he is in, has gotten a lion's share of the credit for WWE's resurgence in recent years, but it also puts him in a position where he's most likely going to be the first one to be criticized.

There has been a growing sentiment that the current WWE regime hasn't been very favorable to people of color, with many pointing out that superstars like Bobby Lashley had considerably more success in the Vince McMahon regime and were essentially shunned in the current regime.

Triple H was asked about the criticism of representation on current WWE television and stated that he "doesn't see color" and only sees talent. While many were satisfied with that answer, there was a vocal portion of the audience who referenced Cody Rhodes' take on the issues of race when he was an AEW superstar.

Back then, Cody stated that the idea of "not seeing color" was a "cop-out" and was dismissive of people of color's experiences with racism. That has been the basis upon which Triple H has been criticized.
