"It could be the Triple H/Rock era" - Kurt Angle opens up about the new WWE
Triple H has seemingly stamped his creative authority in WWE, but Kurt Angle still feels The Rock might also have a big influence on the company's proceedings.
The Game has been seen quite regularly in recent times, more so since WrestleMania 40, which showcased that WWE had indeed entered a new era. Kurt Angle was asked about the recent changes in the Stanford-based company on his podcast, and the Hall of Famer initially agreed that Triple H has a lot of control now in the promotion.
However, The Olympic gold medalist brought up The Rock's newfound corporate powers in the WWE and believed The Final Boss was also heavily involved in the overall direction alongside Triple H.
"Umm, yeah, I think so [if WWE is in the Triple H era]. I don't know, it could be the Triple H/Rock era. You know, Rock is on the board of directors, and he is a big part of the company now."
Kurt Angle, though, was glad to see Triple H get the keys to the WWE empire, at least from a creative standpoint.
The former WWE Champion said that after Vince McMahon, Triple H was always the ideal choice to lead the booking team. Angle admitted that his former on-screen rival had mastered almost every facet of wrestling and was confident that Hunter would make the right calls:
"But, having Triple H there, listen, if I can't have Vince in charge, Triple H is next, who I trust with running the company incredibly well. I think he knows how to make the right decisions. I think he knows the business enough to know what decisions to make, and I think he will make all the right decisions."
Kurt Angle shares what he has always observed about Triple H
The Cerebral Assassin and The Wrestling Machine have crossed paths many times before in WWE. Many would say their rivalry ranked amongst the greatest in either man's career, and even beyond the screens, Kurt Angle and Triple H have continued to share a cordial relationship.
Kurt Angle recalled how Triple H had always had a brilliant mind for the wrestling business from his days as a premier WWE performer.
Angle acknowledged Triple H's sound work inside the ring and predicted WWE would thrive under the leadership of Vince McMahon's son-in-law.
"He [Triple H] has always had a good mind for the business. Not just in the ring, but overall, business-wise and everything. He has the it factor, and I think they are going to be really successful with Triple H at the helm."
With Cody Rhodes as the champion and WWE focussing on several fresh storylines and feuds, Triple H would be hoping to maintain the momentum of what is a vastly improved TV product.
