IYO SKY reacts after major loss at WWE Money in the Bank 2024
IYO SKY failed to make history at the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event on Saturday in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. SKY recently reacted to her loss on social media following the huge event.
The Genius of the Sky had a chance to become the second woman to win back-to-back Money in the Bank ladder matches since Carmella in 2017. She entered Saturday's event as a former Money in the Bank winner, cashing in at last year's SummerSlam to win the WWE Women's Championship.
In a post on her official X/Twitter account, SKY reacted to her loss and failure to win the Money in the Bank briefcase for the second year in a row. She was practically speechless, while also sharing a photo of herself backstage.
"…… #MITB#MITB#MITB#IYOSKY," IYO SKY shared.
Check out her tweet below:
IYO put on a great performance against Tiffany Stratton, Chelsea Green, Naomi, Lyra Valkyria, and Zoey Stark. SKY took plenty of crazy bumps on the mat and into ladders. She also hit an insane modified Piledriver on Stark in quite possibly the best move of the match.
However, Stratton outlasted everyone in the match after putting Green through two tables and retrieving the briefcase to become Ms. Money in the Bank.
IYO SKY to compete outside of WWE
Despite not winning the Money in the Bank briefcase, IYO SKY has a huge week ahead since she is competing outside of WWE. SKY will be making her Marigold debut at Summer Destiny 2024 on July 13 against Utami Hayashishita.
In a post on his official X/Twitter account, Marigold founder Rossy Ogawa explained the significance of the former WWE Women's Champion's debut for the promotion.
"Iyo Sky's participation in the Ryogoku Kokugikan was something we really wanted to do when we decided on this event. The fact that we were able to invite a superstar from the world's largest organization is a sign to the world of the significance of Marigold's existence. Within one day of Iyo's announcement, 600 more tickets were sold. The Shimi vs. Iyo match is the best match of the year, right up there with the best matches of the year," Ogawa wrote as translated by DeepL. [H/T Fightful]
What the future has in store for The Genius of the Sky remains to be seen.
