IYO SKY suffers an unexpected loss to 27-year-old superstar on WWE RAW
On the latest episode of WWE RAW, IYO SKY competed against Lyra Valkyria in the semifinals of the 2024 Queen of the Ring tournament. The former Women's Champion is one of the biggest female stars in the industry, and many fans expected her to win the match.
During the bout, the Damage CTRL member hit the former NXT Women's Champion with a kick to the midsection. Lyra Valkyria nailed IYO with a crossbody off the middle rope and went for a cover but did not get the three-count. The Genius of the Sky sent her opponent into the bottom rope and hit her with a series of strikes.
IYO SKY hit Valkyria with several kicks in the corner, a knee to the midsection, and a double underhook backbreaker, which got a two-count. Lyra Valkyria went for another diving crossbody later in the match and nailed her opponent with a fisherman's buster for a nearfall. IYO then went for a meteora and got a two-count.
Toward the end of the match, the former Women's Champion planted Valkyria with a powerbomb and tried to hit a moonsault but the latter evaded it. The 27-year-old star then pinned IYO SKY to win the match. This was the first time that the two superstars faced each other in WWE.
