Jacob Fatu has apologized following real-life controversy; statement issued
WWE Superstar Jacob Fatu has recently been in the news for the wrong reasons. A past incident from 2023 resurfaced, with The Bloodline member allegedly scamming a non-profit organization.
Jake's Network of Hope, an NPO that distributes hygiene products and essential daily living items to people of all ages, said that Fatu agreed to appear at a charity wrestling event in April 2023. However, he canceled his appearance and did not return the $2,633 that he was reimbursed for the show.
After this had resurfaced, a Reddit user, whose wife worked for the non-profit organization claimed that Jacob Fatu did not pay the money back. Jake's Network of Hope has since issued a statement via Sports Illustrated, explaining that The Bloodline member has apologized for the matter but is yet to repay the amount in full:
"Jacob Fatu and our organization are addressing this matter privately, beginning with a phone call and heartfelt apology back in May. While the full amount owed hasn’t yet been repaid, we appreciated Jacob’s acknowledgment. It can be tough to face up to your wrongdoings, and we commend him for taking steps toward confronting his."
Fatu is yet to publicly comment on what happened, with the matter being addressed privately. He deactivated his X/Twitter account for a short period yesterday. Meanwhile, WWE has reportedly investigated the situation themselves.
Jacob Fatu could headline another WWE PLE this month
Amid this controversy from before his time in WWE, Jacob Fatu has been going from strength to strength in the ring. Having already headlined Money in the Bank this July, The Samoan Werewolf is likely set to wrestle in the main event of the Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 Premium Live Event.
Fatu will likely team up with Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa in a Men's WarGames Match against the original Bloodline. Roman Reigns, The Usos, and Sami Zayn will look to settle their differences following a miscommunication at Crown Jewel 2024.
It will be interesting to see how the storyline unfolds as Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 approaches. Zayn is set to appear on SmackDown this week, with Reigns, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso also present at the show.
