JBL reveals if John Cena should win his 17th WWE World Championship (Exclusive)

John Cena has not won a world championship since 2017, but JBL would love to see his former rival win another win before he retires. The WWE Universe is preparing for one of the grandest retirement tours ever as John Cena will wrestle in 2025 before calling it quits.

The Cenation Leader is currently tied on 16 world titles with Ric Flair, and many would love to see him surpass the Nature Boy.

During a special live Q&A featuring JBL and Gerald Brisco on WrestleBinge, the WWE Hall of Famers were asked about Cena breaking the record for world title wins. Cena won his first world title in WWE after defeating JBL many years ago, and his former opponent wouldn't mind seeing him win another title.

JBL had the utmost respect for Cena, believing the Hollywood star had the most challenging job in wrestling—following up on the Attitude Era. To Cena's credit, he became a leading star for the next decade, and JBL believed no one else could have pulled it off.

"I would, too, 100 percent. John Cena had the hardest role in wrestling history. He followed the Attitude Era, where you can flip off your boss and drink beer on television. You know, girls were out there sometimes wearing nothing. And he had to have a PG to G-rated era, and to be champion in that era, I don't know if anybody in the business would have done that except John Cena. It's incredible what he did. But yes, I'd love to see him win the 17th." [22:41 onwards]

Gerald Brisco would like to see John Cena go out as a WWE World Champion

As noted, there is a lot of hype around John Cena's final year as a WWE wrestler. Fans expect him to have a bunch of rematches and first-time-ever bouts next year, with a potential world title reign also being discussed online.

Gerald Brisco has seen John's rise since day one and is also on board to see the 47-year-old superstar as a WWE World Champion again.

Brisco felt a fitting way for Cena to end his career would be as the world champion with the most reigns in WWE history.

"I would love to see it. I really do; I mean, the guy deserves it. Let the guy go out as a champion," added the Hall of Famer. [22:30 - 22:40]

Even if he doesn't capture another world title, John Cena will be remembered as one of the GOATs of pro wrestling, though adding a 17th championship would certainly be a storybook ending to his career.
