Jey Uso and 41-year-old babyface defeat Imperium after SmackDown goes off the air
Jey Uso was in the second post-SmackDown dark match tonight. Although he was set to face Gunther in a King of the Ring semi-final rematch, he ended up in a tag team situation where he won.
The crowd was red hot for "Main Event" Jey Uso. Sami Zayn had just finished the first dark match, in which he defeated 40-year-old veteran Santos Escobar—also the man who will challenge LA Knight for the United States Championship next week.
After an interference, the world title bout turned into a tag team match where Jey Uso teamed up with his former rival Damian Priest to defeat the Imperium duo of Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser.
Kaiser was previously advertised to face Sami Zayn in the first post-SmackDown dark match. However, he instead became the guy to take the fall as Imperium lost to Jey and Damian.
In a wholesome post-match moment, Jey managed to get the 41-year-old babyface to break character from his usual, serious self to do a lighthearted "Yeet" along with him and the crowd.
This was a change for Damian Priest, who hasn't had much to smile or laugh about in recent weeks - especially considering how his world title reign ended in betrayal from Judgment Day.
