Jey Uso being booked to lose led to shocking title change on WWE SmackDown, says veteran (Exclusive)
WWE fans were recently witness to a surprising title change on SmackDown, owing to Jey Uso's interference. This, according to a veteran, was a direct result of how he was booked out of his Intercontinental Championship.
The Yeet man had seemed to be on the verge of an epic run as the new Intercontinental Champion after defeating Bron Breakker. However, the Solo Sikoa-led Bloodline ensured that he lost it back to Breakker, only holding the belt for 28 days. As such, the enmity between Jey and the villainous faction reached a breaking point.
On SmackDown, Jey's interference led to Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa losing their tag team titles to Motor City Machine Guns. Speaking about the matter on Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo, veteran Vince Russo stated:
"It was 1000% storyline, because they scre*ed Jey out of the Intercontinental title, then Jey turned around and scre*ed them out of the tag team titles. I think that was 1000% storyline driven." [2:57 onwards]
Vince Russo has an idea regarding why MCMG was booked to win the WWE Tag Team Titles
According to Vince Russo, putting the belts on MCMG instead of other teams like Street Profits was the right choice.
Adding to his previous comments on Writing with Russo, the veteran stated that since MCMG is new to the company, the WWE creative department probably decided the fastest way to push them would be a title reign.
"Because the Machine Guns just started there and in their minds if they put the belts on the Motor City Machine Guns, that is gonna help get the Motor City Machine Guns over. Street Profits have been there forever. The Viking Raiders have been there forever. All those teams have been there forever. This is a brand new team. In their minds, it will help get them over." For now, only time will tell what is next for the team in WWE.
