Jey Uso claims he "stole" his current look from WWE legend

WWE star Jey Uso is one of the top babyfaces for the company at the moment. He recently revealed that his current gimmick is heavily influenced by legendary wrestling star Bret 'The Hitman' Hart.

Hart is an industry veteran and is regarded as one of the best in-ring technicians of all time by fans. He had complicated and controversial relations with WWE after the 'Montreal Screwjob' and his brother Owen Hart passing while working for the company. Of late, the two parties have seemingly put their issues behind them and developed a good working relationship.

In a recent interview with Battleground Podcast, Jey discussed how his gimmick was inspired by Bret Hart. He recalled the old commercial featuring The Hitman and claimed he wanted that same look with the glasses and everything. He mentioned the creative team went all out to help him get that vibe and make it his own.

"There was an old commercial with Bret Hart. Do you remember it? That commercial came on and he had the pink glasses. I'm automatically 'Light bulb.' Like I need blue ones. I need the exact same ones but blue. Remember, it had the rubber strap on here and it was like very flimsy? I wanted that whole look. I wanted that. We couldn't get it but kind of took it a little bit to make it mine. But I stole the whole idea from Bret Hart." [From 5:55 - 6:33]

Jey Uso is looking strong in the King of the Ring tournament

It has been a stellar couple of weeks in WWE for Jey Uso after he entered the King of the Ring tournament. He steamrolled through Finn Balor in the first round despite Drew McIntyre on the outside trying to cause a distraction.

In the quarterfinals, the former Bloodline member faced off against Ilja Dragunov. Uso once again survived the onslaught from the hard-hitting former NXT Champion and advanced to the next round.

"Main Event" Jey Uso is now scheduled to face Gunther in the semifinals of the King of the Ring tournament on Monday Night RAW this week.
