Jey Uso mistakenly said something to Jacob Fatu and paid for it with WWE IC title loss, says Anoaʻi family member
Many might have foreseen it, but Jey Uso losing the Intercontinental Title on RAW was quite a shocking moment for the WWE Universe. Afa Anoa'i Jr. recently shared his thoughts on the title change and its aftermath.
Jey Uso capturing the IC title was seen as a deserving booking decision, as the Samoan had never won a singles championship before in WWE. However, those who might have expected him to have a long reign with the belt were surely in for a surprise.
Bron Breakker reclaimed the title on the October 21st episode of RAW with some unexpected help from The Bloodline. Jacob Fatu laid out Jey Uso as Breakker took advantage of the situation to deliver a spear and win back the title.
On Enter The Bloodline Afa Anoa'i Jr. noted that Jey's heated exchange with Jacob Fatu from a recent SmackDown episode might have been the cause for the interference on RAW. Jey famously threatened to knock Fatu out, and Afa claimed nobody could say that to Jacob and escape unscathed.
Afa Anoa'i Jr. explained:
"It all comes back down to that promo. What are you looking at? I'm going to knock you out, you know, Jacob is not the one to say that to, and you see what happened, and it cost him the title. So now, where does Jey go from here? Does he chase the title back or handle the monkey in the room? We'll see what happens," [From 22:56 onwards]
Afa Anoa'i Jr. feels The Bloodline storyline has gotten more personal in WWE
It has been WWE's best angle for a while and, surprisingly, continues to deliver at a high level. The current arc involves Roman Reigns turning over a new leaf and becoming a babyface as he looks to stop Solo Sikoa's crew.
Jey Uso's reluctance to get involved in the conflict meant that Solo Sikoa forced his older cousin into the angle by ordering Jacob Fatu and the Tongans to invade the Monday Night RAW main event.
Afa Anoa'i Jr. liked the new twist and said it made an already personal feud even more heated. Despite Jey's best attempts to avoid his cousins, Afa liked how WWE had pulled the superstar back into the mix with an added layer.
"Man, I feel like it just took a turn. I feel that the Intercontinental Title was kind of the thing that was keeping Jey out of this. But now that it was Jacob who cost him the title, it kind of adds that whole other element because now it's more personal. Like, how do you make it more personal than family now it's even more personal because he tried his best to stay out, but it didn't work,"[From 22:14 - 22:47]
Jey Uso's latest setback will most likely lead to him reuniting with Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso as the good Samoans yearn to teach Solo Sikoa a lesson.
