Jey Uso reacts to major disrespect by record-breaking WWE champion on RAW
WWE Superstar Jey Uso defended his Intercontinental Championship on this week’s episode of RAW. This was Jey's first title defense after he dethroned Bron Breakker on the September 23 episode of RAW. However, despite winning the match, the star was disrespected by a record-breaking former champion. The name in question is Xavier Woods.
The 11-time WWE Tag Team Champion has been showing signs of an imminent heel turn for several weeks on RAW. He was happy last week when he learned that his teammate Kofi Kingston sacrificed his title shot against Jey Uso to push his name forward. However, all that happiness turned into bitterness following a clean loss.
The Yeet Master respectfully extended his hand to The New Day after the match. However, while Kingston shook his hand, Woods did not and walked away. Speaking to Jackie Redmond after the show, the champ reacted to Woods' disrespectful behavior.
"Good match. I appreciate it was Xavier Woods. I thought he showed some better sportsmanship out there because we go back from day one type stuff, but you know, I'm saying my hat's still off to him. I still got respect he just needs to find his way, you know, I'm saying so he's battling something." [0:31 - 0:44]
Xavier Woods denied helping Jey Uso after a sudden ambush
When The New Day walked out of the ring, Bron Breakker ambushed Jey Uso with a Spear. Seeing this, Kofi Kingston asked Xavier Woods to help the IC Champion. However, Woods denied helping Jey, forcing Kingston to act solo. However, he failed to land a Trouble in Paradise on Breakker and was also speared.
While Woods chose to stay away from the altercation, Breaker didn’t spare him and attacked him with a running Spear. Following RAW, Kofi asked Woods why he didn’t shake Mr. Yeet Master’s hand or help him. Kingston also reminded his teammate that Jey Uso was a friend of theirs and would have saved him if Breakker had come after him.
In response, Woods asked a question of his own and demanded if he should’ve shaken Uso’s hand for simply offering him a match. Moreover, he also said that the IC Champ was grown enough to handle his rivals on his own.
He also alleged Kofi Kingston for not respecting his word of giving him the charge of the team despite calling him the “QB” of The New Day. It will be interesting to see if and when Woods turns heel and vents his frustrations.
