Jey Uso's catchphrase is taken by absent WWE Superstar; claims that "Yeet" began with him
Jey Uso has risen to the top in WWE over the past year with his "Yeet" catchphrase. However, he may now have some competition when it comes to claiming the word as his own.
Ahead of Jake Paul's clash with Mike Tyson this weekend, Logan Paul used the abovementioned phrase in a video and was called out by several WWE fans. In response, The Maverick took ownership of the term and claimed that it actually began with him.
"I began the Yeet and I will Yeet as I please," Paul said in a video on his Instagram Story.
Paul mentioned that he would use the phrase as he pleased and even showed an old video of him shouting "Yeet" before the OG Bloodline member made the term popular.
It's unclear if this will become an issue for Jey since he uses the phrase on WWE TV and it has also become a part of the OG Bloodline. Meanwhile, Paul hasn't used the phrase on the company's programming. The Maverick has been away from the ring since his loss to LA Knight at SummerSlam 2024.
Jey Uso has recreated the term in WWE
It's well-known that Jey Uso didn't create the word "Yeet," which is why WWE seemingly had an issue when trying to copyright the term. The phrase has been used in YouTube videos for several years, and it's unclear who actually came up with it. However, in World Wrestling Entertainment, it will always be associated with Jey Uso.
Roman Reigns recently changed his merchandise to add Yeet to it. Hence, it could be a huge issue if Logan Paul opted to cause problems for the OG Bloodline. Of course, this could lead to a feud between Paul and Jey upon The Maverick's WWE return.
Paul has noted that he wants to be part of RAW when the show moves to Netflix in January 2025. Hence, the potential feud may play out on the red brand.
