Jey Uso could win the Intercontinental Championship tonight on RAW for major reason, says WWE analyst
Jey Uso will challenge Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship tonight on RAW. A WWE analyst thinks Main Event Jey could leave the show with the title.
The former Bloodline member earned his opportunity after winning a tournament to determine the number-one contender for the Intercontinental Championship. Last week on the red brand, he promised Breakker to end his title reign as they had a heated confrontation in the ring. Although the 39-year-old is a multi-time Tag Team Champion, he has yet to win a singles title in WWE.
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts expressed his desire to see Jey leave the show tonight with the Intercontinental Championship. He pointed out that the company could end Breakker's reign because not all title reigns should be long:
"I'd really like it if Jey Uso won the Intercontinental Championship. I mean, I know Bron Breakker hasn't had it all that long. I know Bron Breakker hasn't had that many big wins since beating Sami Zayn for the title. But not every champion can have these long reigns. Since Triple H kinda took over, we've had a lot of long-reigning champions. And long championship reigns are a good thing. Long championship reigns are a good thing because ultimately it makes it so that we take it seriously when somebody wins a title. (...) All that said, to me, I just, I feel so strongly about Jey Uso and the connection that Jey Uso has," he said. [From 15:25 - 16:27]
Ex-WWE host says Jey Uso doesn't have to win the Intercontinental Championship
On his The Wrestling Matt podcast, former WWE host Matt Camp also addressed Jey Uso's chances to win the Intercontinental Championship when he goes head-to-head against Bron Breakker tonight on RAW.
He claimed the 39-year-old does not need to capture the championship as he might end up reuniting with Roman Reigns in a potential WarGames match at Survivor Series:
"A title just to have a title doesn't matter. It's not necessarily about a push. That is about how you're presented. Are you in the main event? Are you being looked at as the top guy? A title doesn't necessarily make that. It does for some people, but I don't know if Jey [Uso] needs the Intercontinental Championship right now. I think it's more important for Bron [Breakker] to have that because I think there could be bigger things in play for Jey Uso. Perhaps ending back up alongside Roman Reigns in WarGames," Camp said.
Earlier this year, Jey attempted to win the Intercontinental Championship from Gunther. However, he failed. It would be interesting to see if he could accomplish the mission tonight against Breakker.
