WWE News: Jim Ross believes that AJ Styles is headed towards a face turn
What’s the story?
In the latest issue of Jim Ross’ blog on JrsBBQ.com, the WWE announcer believes that WWE officials will turn AJ Styles face in the near future.
In case you didn’t know...
When the Phenomenal One debuted in the WWE, he was the company’s hottest babyface. He rode the momentum of a rowdy Orlando crowd at the 2016 Royal Rumble and continued to do great work up until WrestleMania 32.
A loss to Chris Jericho didn’t hinder Styles’ development in the WWE. Only a few months following his WrestleMania loss, he ended up becoming one of the top heels in the WWE.

Fans were unsure whether Styles would end up reaching the heights that he did in New Japan Pro Wrestling in the WWE. Then, the WWE announced the return of the brand split and the WWE Draft.
Two months later, Styles became a WWE champion and was the de-facto top performer on SmackDown LIVE. Due to an announcement by Vince McMahon on WWE Raw, this could all be changing in less than a week, and that could mean a change for Styles.
The heart of the matter
A rumoured brand change for Styles could be on the horizon. Ross believes that a character alteration may also occur. Here is an excerpt from JRs’ blog where he discussed this:
“Seems like AJ Styles is heading to fan favorite land which is a strategic move for sure. Fans have a hard time jeering excellence and that’s what AJ brings to the dance.”
Styles’ latest appearance on SmackDown LIVE and his subsequent confrontation of Shane McMahon also appears to hint towards a face turn. The video can be seen below:
What’s next?
The WWE is headed for a big day next Monday that could change everything for multiple WWE Superstars.
Styles and Alexa Bliss are rumoured to switch brands, while the New Day and Charlotte are rumoured to leave for Tuesday nights as well. While that’s not confirmed, talents will be certainly be switched due to the “Superstar shake-up.”
Author’s take
This is a great opportunity for Styles to shine on the WWE’s biggest stage. SmackDown LIVE has taken great strides to be a competitor of Monday Night Raw, but the blue brand just doesn’t have that mystique about it that the red brand does.
Just by looking at the fact that Styles beat a McMahon at WrestleMania and the rumour of Vince McMahon wanting Styles on Monday nights, he’s set for even more success in the WWE than previously anticipated.
