WWE News: Jim Ross offers his thoughts on the Superstar Shake-up
What’s the story?
With the Superstar shake-up taking place on the 4/10 edition of Monday Night Raw, Jim Ross, who just returned to the WWE at WrestleMania 33, has unorthodox ideas about which WWE stars should swap brands.
In case you didn’t know...
Vince McMahon has remained off WWE television for several months and showed up on the WWE Raw after WrestleMania where he dropped a bombshell that will change the WWE’s landscape for the foreseeable future, the Superstar Shake-up.

A lot of the rumours have since come up regarding AJ Styles, Charlotte, Alexa Bliss and the New Day possibly switching brands. As a former head of talent relations, Ross offered his own thoughts on the Superstar Shake-up.
The heart of the matter
In Ross’ latest blog post on his website, JRSBBQ.com, he gave his thoughts on one obscure name that would benefit from the switch.
"I'd like to see Luke Harper move to RAW and get a chance to contribute in a more significant way. He's skilled, motivated/hungry and can have an effective wrestling match with anyone on the roster.
Just believe that there is something there with Harper.
Curious to see how the tag teams shake out as well, as WWE has done a nice job of restocking their tag team shelves and the reshuffling of the deck might present some compelling matchups that many of us haven't thought of at this time.”
Even though Ross singled out Harper, he believes that any WWE performer can benefit from a new place and a fresh start.
“Every WWE talent should consider looking at this 'Shakeup' as the opportunity to hit the reset button in virtually all phases of their professional life. The smarter talents will do something to improve their game daily. Something. Daily."
What’s next?
Until the shake-up takes place Monday evening, the entire WWE roster’s status is up in the air. As soon as they are swapped, the storylines they are currently in will dissipate and new ones will begin. That’s where, as Ross said above, a wrestler can capitalise and make themselves better.
Author’s take
It’s always felt like Harper was one step from the main event scene. He’s one of the more talented men on the roster who can work a good match with anyone. His bout with Dolph Ziggler at TLC in 2014 is considered one of the best in recent memory.
If the WWE wants to make the Superstar Shake-up a big event, a solid splash will need to occur. Not many WWE fans will expect Roman Reigns to get swapped to the other brand. If he moves to SmackDown Live, it would change the landscape immediately.
That’s only one example of something WWE officials can do to shake things up around the company. This is somewhat similar to the Slammy Awards. Unless something big took place, not many people cared. If the shake-up remains bland, the same thing will happen.
