Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal both did well after their WWE returns
During 2012-2014, Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal were members of 3MB alongside Heath Slater. The trio was mostly used as enhancement talent and frequently lost matches on WWE TV.
In 2014, Mahal was let go by the Stamford-based promotion and he spent the next two years improving his craft in other promotions. Mahal came back to the Stamford-based company in 2016 and was finally given a main event push a year later. He won the WWE Championship with a victory over Randy Orton at Backlash 2017 and held the belt for almost the entirety of the rest of the year.
As for McIntyre, he was released by WWE in 2014 as well. He was finally brought back to the Stamford-based promotion in 2017. McIntyre had become red-hot by early 2020. He won the Men's Royal Rumble Match that year and faced Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36. The Scottish Warrior defeated The Beast Incarnate at The Show of Shows to win the coveted belt. He has been a top star in the company ever since.
McIntyre won the World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Seth Rollins at WrestleMania XL. His cockiness got the best of him, though, as he began mocking CM Punk immediately after his win. An annoyed Punk attacked McIntyre and this resulted in Damian Priest cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on The Scottish Warrior and winning the title moments later.
