Joe Hendry set to make his singles debut in WWE, will face 36-year-old superstar
Joe Hendry is set to make his WWE singles debut. On next week's NXT: The Great American Bash, he will face Joe Coffey.
Hendry has made several appearances in NXT, courtesy of WWE's working relationship with TNA. His first match in the brand was a Battle Royal. He has also teamed up with former NXT Champion Trick Williams.
On Night 1 of NXT: The Great American Bash, Hendry performed his concert for the first time in front of the WWE Universe. However, the TNA Superstar was interrupted by Gallus, who ruined the concert and smashed Hendry's guitar on his back.
While exiting the arena, Hendry challenged 36-year-old Coffey to a singles match. The match was made official for night two of NXT: The Great American Bash within minutes.
Joe Hendry will be heading into the match on the back of Slammiversary 2024, during which he failed to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. The title was won by Nic Nemeth (FKA Dolph Ziggler), who dethroned Moose.
Since appearing on NXT, Hendry has also worked on commentary. The 36-year-old was the Special Guest Commentator during a match between Gallus and RSCLxMSK. Hendry will be aiming for his first major singles victory in WWE.
