WWE News: Samoa Joe to make main roster debut at Royal Rumble

Samoa Joe’s long stint at NXT might come to an end

Shinsuke Nakamura rose to the top yet again after he won back his NXT Championship from Samoa Joe at his hometown of Osaka, Japan. Ever since the defeat, there have been wide speculations regarding the status of the first ever “2 Time NXT Champion” Samoa Joe.

According to givemesport.com, the feud between Nakamura and Joe has concluded, thereby Joe is merely waiting for WWE’s signal to make it to the main roster with Royal Rumble seemingly being the most logical event for him to make his debut at.

It is evident that Joe is no longer a part of NXT’s plans as he was not involved in any of the recent NXT tapings. Bobby Roode, on the other hand, has emerged as the new number one contender for the NXT Championship.

Here’s a video containing highlights of the Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Samoa Joe match at Osaka, Japan:

After Joe’s shocking victory over Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT TakeOver: Toronto, it was reported that Joe would not be called up the main roster soon, but considering the recent title change and with the Royal Rumble coming closer, the main roster debut for Joe should not be far away.

The Royal Rumble would be an efficient way of introducing Joe to the main roster much like his TNA counterpart AJ Styles. His debut on RAW or Smackdown Live! cannot be ruled out either, as that might be a move WWE would be looking to make, in order to provide some unpredictability.

Yet another alternative for the WWE is to unveil Joe to the main roster at Roadblock, setting him up for a short-term feud aginst the likes of Rusev before the "Road to Wrestlemania" begins.

With Joe’s inclusion to the main roster, it would be interesting to see which path does the WWE take for him towards Wrestlemania. Several reports have indicated a potential Joe vs Lesnar clash at "The grandest stage of them all".

Apart from that, it is obvious that Joe will be an asset to whichever brand he gets drafted to. Smackdown Live! could use him as they need someone to make up for John Cena's absence.

Royal Rumble promises to be a belter with a star-studded roster, a potential dream match and several rumoured returns and debuts.
