John Cena becoming 18-time World Champion with surprising WWE scenario is possible, says veteran

John Cena and Ric Flair currently hold the record for most recognized world championship wins by WWE at 16. Wrestling veteran Magnum T.A. now thinks The Cenation Leader could secure two more world titles before hanging up his boots.

The 47-year-old announced his retirement plans at Money in the Bank. He disclosed that he would have one final run before stepping away from in-ring competition by the end of 2025. Since then, many have wondered if the 16-time World Champion would win his 17th title to set a new record before retiring.

On the Straight Talk with The Boss, wrestling veteran Magnum T.A. discussed the possibility of Cena having another world title run. He claimed The Cenation Leader could win a world title, drop it, and recapture it before ending his in-ring career.

"Well, compared to that thing I watched for the World Heavyweight Title [at Money in the Bank] with that fiasco they had, he could probably win it, drop it, and win it again [inaudible] to be bluntly honest [laughs]," he said. [23:16 - 23:34]

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair commented on John Cena possibly breaking their record

While John Cena winning another world championship would make him the most decorated world champion in WWE history, Hall of Famer Ric Flair seemingly has no problem with that.

The Nature Boy recently took to Instagram to reflect on the possibility of The Cenation Leader capturing his 17th world championship before hanging up his boots next year. He said that although he would prefer to see his daughter, Charlotte Flair, be the one to beat his record, he would congratulate Cena and shake his hand if he did it.

"There Has Been Way Too Much Attention Brought To This. Let's Just Set The Record Straight For The Final Time. My First Choice Would Obviously Be The Queen @charlottewwe. I Think The World Of My Friend @johncena, Who Is An Incredible Athlete & Genuine Person! I Will Be The First Person To Shake His Hand & Congratulate Him If He Breaks My Record As I Would For Anybody Who Would Break It. When That Day Comes, It Will Be An Honor! WOOOOO!"

WWE analyst Sam Roberts has claimed on his Notsam Wrestling podcast that there is a real possibility that Cena will win his 17th world title before ending his wrestling career. It would be interesting to see if that would happen.
