John Cena could compete in a massive match vs. WWE legend at WrestleMania 41, says ex-host
WWE legend John Cena will retire from in-ring competition by the end of 2025. A former WWE host now thinks The Leader of the Cenation could go head-to-head against a 14-time world champion in a massive match at WrestleMania 41.
The superstar in question is Randy Orton. The Viper is considered a legend in the Stamford-based company. Over a decade ago, he and Cena had a heated rivalry. Nevertheless, they never squared off at WrestleMania. While former RAW Talk host Matt Camp does not think that rivalry was among the best in both superstars' careers, he thinks things could be different if they reignite it ahead of next year's Show of Shows.
On his The Wrestling Matt podcast, Camp expressed his desire to see Cena and Orton square off in a massive match at WrestleMania 41:
"I don't know if this is a popular opinion or not, but the Orton-Cena stuff is not great. Like, they didn't have that many good matches, unfortunately. I never thought they got the most out of those feuds for whatever reason. I'm not quite sure why. Nothing was really, like, the fact that they never had a 'Mania match is wild. They never had a one-on-one WrestleMania match. You do that now though, like, I hope we get Cena and Orton at 'Mania next year," he said. [1:16:42 - 1:17:21]
A rising WWE star should beat John Cena in his retirement match, suggests Eric Bischoff
Since John Cena announced his retirement plans, many fans and experts have suggested possible opponents for the 16-time world champion. On his 83 Weeks podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff claimed The Leader of the Cenation should lose to the superstar the company views as the next top guy.
The former RAW General manager suggested that Bron Breakker be the one to beat Cena in his retirement match:
"I'd let Bron beat him. Have John put him over one, two, three. And knowing John, it's probably what he'll want to do, whether it's Bron or somebody else. He's not gonna want to go out with a win," he said.
With Cena's last run lasting nearly a year, it would be interesting to see him reignite some of his old feuds and cross paths with some of the rising talents in WWE.
