John Cena put on notice by a former champion after Nick Aldis made a huge announcement on WWE SmackDown
This week on WWE SmackDown, General Manager Nick Aldis announced the upcoming arrival of a mystery superstar who will face Carmelo Hayes. On X/Twitter, Melo teased a match with John Cena in the future.
Cena will begin his "Retirement Tour" next year. He is scheduled to appear on multiple shows and premium live events, including the 2025 Royal Rumble, the 2025 Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 41.
On X/Twitter, Hayes shared a photo of Cena and questioned Nick Aldis if the former WWE Champion was the mystery superstar he was talking about.
Check out Hayes' tweet below:
On Night One of the 2024 WWE Draft, Hayes was promoted to SmackDown as the third pick. His first match on the main roster was against Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. The former NXT Champion came agonizingly close to defeating The American Nightmare.
Hayes then entered into a feud with Andrade, with both superstars crossing paths in a 'Best of 7' series. Melo and Andrade won three matches each. The seventh and decisive match in their series was interrupted by LA Knight, which led to the three men competing in a Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship at Crown Jewel 2024. Hayes was unsuccessful in his attempt to dethrone The Megastar in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Kurt Angle wants Roman Reigns to be John Cena's final opponent in WWE
Roman Reigns and John Cena have crossed paths in WWE on multiple occasions. Former World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle wants to witness another showdown between the two superstars.
While speaking to MuscleManMalcolm, Angle discussed the idea of The Original Tribal Chief being The Chain Gang Soldier's final opponent in the Stamford-based company. He said:
"John Cena's [last match should be] probably [against] Roman Reigns. I think knowing that where Roman was when he started, and I remember a promo where John put him in his place; I think they would have a good storyline coming up if they decide to have that last match of Cena vs. Roman."
Cena played a major role during the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match between Roman and Cody Rhodes on Night Two of WrestleMania XL. The Cenation Leader took out Solo Sikoa and helped The American Nightmare win the coveted title.
