WWE News: John Cena not advertised for Elimination Chamber
It was recently announced that the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view was set to make a return on February 2017 as Smackdown’s final pay-per-view before Wrestlemania. This indicates the return of the unforgiving structure of steel which would most likely determine the WWE champion heading into Wrestlemania.
Generally, it is the time during the “Road to Wrestlemania” that witnesses the presence and returns of several superstars,
However, it has been revealed through the official website of the Talking Stick Resort Arena, where the Elimination Chamber is scheduled to be held, that John Cena will not be a part of the event.
Here is their official statement regarding the description of the event as well the list of names possibly appearing:
“This will be your chance to see some of your favorite WWE Smackdown Superstars battle inside ten tons of unforgiving steel!
See: Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, The USO’s, Becky Lynch, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Natalya, Nikki Bella, and many more of your favorite Superstars”.
However, according to the WWE Live Events page, Cena is advertised for all the episodes of Smackdown in January and the Royal Rumble as well. Apart from that, Cena is also listed for a live event on February 25th in Illinois.

Cena was last seen during the No Mercy pay-per-view after which he took a hiatus from the company to shoot the second season of the reality show “The American Grit”. With Cena receiving several more offers, it has put a strain on the relationship between Cena and the WWE as the WWE officials are frustrated with Cena’s repeated movie signings.
Cena is scheduled to host SNL on December 10 and has also signed up several movies which as previously reported, indicates that Cena would be wrestling for less than 6 months in 2017.
Cena is currently scheduled to appear at a house show in Madison Square Garden on December 26 where he will face Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles in a triple threat match.
Cena’s absence from the Elimination Chamber would possibly mean that the build for the feud against his Wrestlemania opponent will most likely start at the Royal Rumble itself. His absence is sure to cause a void given the fact that he is an integral part of Smackdown Live!.
It would be interesting to see how the WWE pans out the story for Cena and his potential opponent for Wrestlemania.
