John Cena reacts to former champion's tribute at WWE SummerSlam weekend

WWE Superstar John Cena shared his reaction to a former champion paying him a tribute during the SummerSlam weekend. The name in question is SmackDown star, Indi Hartwell.

The former NXT Women's Champion posted a video of herself on her X (fka Twitter) account, where she was performing on stage during the Sami Zayn & Friends Do Cleveland, which took place on August 2, a night before the Biggest Party of The Summer. In the clip shared by Hartwell, she could be seen singing John Cena's iconic theme song in the presence of long-time allies, DIY and Candice LeRae.

John Cena also took to X to share his reaction to the video captioned, "Last night was a movie." The 16-time world champion reshared Hartwell's post, claiming the opportunity to be a WWE Superstar was better than a movie. He thanked the 27-year-old for performing, "The Time Is Now."

"The opportunity to be a @WWE Superstar is better than a movie… because you get to live every minute of it! Thanks for repping ‘the classics’ #SummerSlam weekend!" wrote Cena.

Popular WWE Superstar wants to wrestle John Cena in 2025

The Cenation Leader announced his retirement from the Stamford-based promotion at the Money in The Bank Premium Live Event, which aired last month. After the show, the veteran revealed that 2025 would mark his final year as an in-ring performer while announcing his upcoming Farewell Tour.

In an interview on the Cheap Heat podcast with Peter Rosenberg, four-time WWE Intercontinental Champion, Sami Zayn stated he would love to wrestle John Cena. He also noted that he wanted to see the 47-year-old win a record seventeenth World Championship.

"If I get that opportunity, I would love to wrestle him [John Cena] in 2025. I would love it. And, if it is for the Intercontinental Championship, if I'm still holding it, or even if I lose it and win it back by then, I would love to be a part of that story. [...] On another side of it, as a fan, I would love to see him get that 17th World Championship. I think he's the guy who should do it," Zayn said. [From 11:00 onwards]
