John Cena's 17th WWE World Title win depends solely on one thing, The Undertaker sheds light

John Cena had an unusual run in WWE the last time he partook in the storylines on SmackDown. In the fall of 2023, Cena was plunged into the LA Knight bandwagon. This led to issues between him and The Bloodline and was followed by a one-off against Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on November 4. The match capped off his last stint.

At one point in time, The Cenation Leader was notorious for always being in the main events and winning world championships. However, things changed drastically. He has not held a title since early 2017, when he defeated AJ Styles to secure his 16th WWE world title at the Royal Rumble.

On the Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker discussed the possibility of John Cena winning his 17th world title before the latter retires. Many fans believe that he deserves to break the all-time record, which currently is tied between him and WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair:

"I think it probably depends on him, whether you know he has the time, he obviously deserves it but I think it basically it just depends on him ... I mean he's put a lot into it and I think whatever he wants to do."

The Deadman also added that Cena will have a more busy schedule than he takes up these days with his sporadic appearances. While the 47-year-old does not need to wrestle every week, he still needs to be there.

John Cena made a one-night-only return to wrestle on WWE RAW in April

After unexpectedly resurfacing at WWE WrestleMania during the main event to take out Solo Sikoa, John Cena made another appearance on the RAW after.

He joined longtime rival The Miz, and R-Truth, to wrestle The Judgment Day. While Cena did not have a backstory with the faction, it was the epilogue to Truth's storyline with them.

A recurring gag among fans is that the 52-year-old veteran claims The Cenation Leader is a childhood hero of his. This made John's presence a feel-good moment for those who invested in the highly entertaining angle between Truth and The Judgment Day, which was pushed backstage by none other than Damian Priest.

It remains to be seen when Cena will appear again on WWE television. He has confirmed that he will be back, and even entertained the possibility of another world title run.
