John Cena's former rival on who makes the most sense as final opponent in 2025 WWE Retirement Tour

John Cena recently announced that he will have a WWE Retirement Tour in 2025. He emphasized the company's significant changes in recent times and what is coming next, with its move to Netflix from January 2025 onwards. Cena is ready to hang up the jorts after spending an entire year with the WWE family.

One of his notable rivals from the last decade was Dolph Ziggler, who goes by the name Nic Nemeth now in TNA. Nemeth feels that Randy Orton should be John Cena's final opponent, although there are some other interesting options as well.

Speaking on the Busted Open Radio podcast, Nic Nemeth revealed that the first name to pop into his mind when The Cenation Leader announced his retirement was The Legend Killer. Their career paths are strikingly similar, beginning with Ohio Valley Wrestling. They were from the same batch, climbed the ranks around the same time, and have had a deeply personal rivalry in WWE.

"First thing that popped in my head was Randy because I liked those two. That's not the entire story of his career, and I don't know what it should be, but I just remember those two fighting, and maybe unifying the titles and having things back and forth. It was like these two are the guys, and Edge was in there too, but I feel like I would say Randy is still there. So I feel like that would be one of the ones that popped in my head. That would be a good one. Miz would be a good one too. Miz is a good one," Nic Nemeth said.

Orton himself admitted that he wishes for the two to finally get their WrestleMania match with a world title on the line. Some of Cena's most notable rivals during his two-decade run in WWE include Randy Orton, Edge, The Miz, and CM Punk, among others. Punk is interested in facing the 16-time World Champion at least once more before the latter calls it a career.

AJ Styles says rivalry with John Cena was his career-best, not just in WWE

When AJ Styles made his WWE debut in 2016, few believed what the TNA original would ultimately accomplish in the sports entertainment giant. Defying expectations, however, Styles broke the glass ceiling. It all started with a John Cena feud, which helped him establish his place in World Wrestling Entertainment.

Looking back at some of his career-best matches in May 2023 on WWE's The Bump, AJ Styles chose his bouts against John Cena at SummerSlam and Royal Rumble:

"I always say the fans make the match. There's no doubt, that you had two guys, you've heard me say this before, you thought that would never meet in a ring, and there it was, John Cena and AJ Styles, in the same ring together. In my opinion, we had some classic matches. So, I would say, Summerslam, or the Royal Rumble match that we had. Either one of those would do," he said.

As of this writing, there is no information regarding how the company is going about John Cena's retirement tour. All that is certain is that 2025 will be Cena's final year as an in-ring competitor.
