"John's new idol" - Former WWE champion targets John Cena following Royal Rumble announcement
A former champion made it known that he was targeting John Cena following the veteran's major announcement this past Monday night on WWE RAW. The Cenation Leader will retire from in-ring competition at the end of 2025.
John Cena appeared on the debut episode of WWE RAW on Netflix and announced that he would enter the Men's Royal Rumble match next month. He noted that it was unlikely that he would be able to become champion again, but referenced his "Never Give Up" motto and noted that he would give it his best shot this year.
Bronson Reed recently took to his Instagram story to send a cryptic message to the legend using an image generated by AI. You can check out Reed's post on Instagram by clicking here.
"Johns new idol," he wrote.
Reed is a former NXT North American Champion but has not won a title on the main roster yet. The veteran joined Solo Sikoa's version of The Bloodline to compete in the Men's WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series 2024 but suffered a significant injury during the premium live event.
WWE star Bronson Reed shares unfortunate injury update
Bronson Reed recently took to social media to provide clarity on his injury sustained at Survivor Series: WarGames last year.
During the WarGames match, the Australian star went for a Tsunami Splash off the top of the cage, but it ended in disaster, as CM Punk pulled Roman Reigns off of the table and Reed came crashing through it. Bronson Reed revealed on his official X/Twitter account that he smashed his talus bone in half during the move and will be out of action until after WWE WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Let's clear up some things. Dirt sheets report ankle fracture or injury. I unfortunately smashed my talus bone completely in half, I had it surgically repaired with screws and fragments taken out. Also had some bone marrow taken from my hip and put into my foot. Now this means I won't be at Raw netflix Premiere, don't expect a rumble surprise, and the biggest loss is no mania. Please keep up with me on social media at this time. Understand I've had a serious injury, undergone serious surgery, and have serious implications from that. It's not merely a fracture!"

The 36-year-old was rumored to be continuing his rivalry with Seth Rollins following WWE Survivor Series: WarGames, but those plans were canceled following the injury. Only time will tell when Bronson Reed will be able to return to action.
