Johnny Gargano shares heartbreaking update ahead of WWE RAW
One-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Johnny Gargano, recently shared a heartbreaking update on social media prior to the upcoming episode of WWE RAW. The NXT Triple Crown Champion revealed details regarding an unfortunate incident from last night.
The 36-year-old, alongside his DIY teammate, Tommaso Ciampa, defeated A-Town Down Under on the July 5 edition of Friday Night SmackDown to become the WWE Tag Team Champions. The duo successfully defended their title in a rematch the following week.
Johnny Gargano recently took to X (fka Twitter) to share a heartbreaking update about his father's restaurant catching fire last night. He shared a picture of the burned place to break the news to the fans expecting to pay a visit during SummerSlam. The SmackDown superstar further mentioned that he was grateful that his father was not present at the place at the time of the unfortunate incident.
"I figured I should touch on this because people are finding out, and I know a lot of wrestling fans were looking forward to going to my Dad's restaurant when they were in Cleveland for Summerslam. Last night, there was a fire, and my Dad's restaurant was badly damaged. I'm grateful that my Dad was not there and is okay. He is 82 years old, this is his life's work. He has worked in that building every day for almost 50 years. I basically grew up there.. and now it's just gone. It is extremely heartbreaking for my family," he wrote.

Johnny Gargano once wanted to compete for the Tag Team Title at WWE SummerSlam 2024
This year's edition of SummerSlam is scheduled to take place on August 3 at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. Before winning the WWE Tag Team Championship, Johnny Gargano expressed his desire to be a part of the premium live event.
While speaking with Mike Jones of DC101, Johnny Gargano mentioned that The Miz, Logan Paul, and he are from Cleveland. He added that he would like to compete in front of the home crowd at the show.
"If the stars were to align and me and Tommaso were to get a title match at SummerSlam for the Tag Team titles, I want to put that out into the universe. To be able to have a title match at SummerSlam in Cleveland Browns Stadium, with that crazy atmosphere. I can only imagine what the crowd would be like for that. It'd be something I would remember for a long time and the culmination of work if we were able to make that happen," he said. [H/T: Fightful]
With DIY having already won the tag team title, it remains to be seen if they will feature on the WWE SummerSlam match card.
