Judgment Day member to cost Damian Priest his match against Gunther at WWE SummerSlam, says veteran
Damian Priest will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther at WWE SummerSlam 2024. Wrestling veteran Jim Cornette believes The Ring General will emerge victorious due to interference from a Judgment Day member.
The Archer of Infamy has held the World Heavyweight Championship since WrestleMania XL, where he cashed his Money in the Bank contract and defeated Drew McIntyre. After successfully defending his title in three televised matches, the 41-year-old will put his championship on the line at The Biggest Party of the Summer against the King of the Ring, Gunther.
On his Drive-Thru podcast, Jim Cornette discussed the potential result of the square-off. The 62-year-old predicted that The Ring General would capture the title after a Judgment Day member disobeys Priest's instructions and interferes in the match.
"Gunther needs this. He can do something with it, with this title. He also is more over at this point than poor Priest. And I think it would be best-serving everybody. Gunther gets a major win and has a new championship belt and is one of the two top singles guys, Priest is the victim of some malfeasance or malpractice by some member of The Judgment Day doing what they should've known not to do, and that leads him in a different direction, and off we go to the races," Cornette said. Damian Priest could leave The Judgment Day after WWE SummerSlam
While discussing the match on his The Wrestling Matt podcast, Matt Camp predicted that Gunther will end Damian Priest's World Heavyweight Championship reign at WWE SummerSlam.
The former RAW Talk host predicted that The Archer of Infamy and Rhea Ripley, who is challenging Liv Morgan for the Women's World Championship at the premium live event, might leave The Judgment Day if they walked out of Cleveland without the titles.
"Maybe both Priest and Rhea realize at the end of SummerSlam if they both don't walk out with championships that their time has come to an end in [The] Judgment Day. And maybe you really see them both get launched as babyfaces," he said.
Priest's championship reign has been receiving mixed reactions from fans and experts. It will be interesting to see whether he will remain champion after WWE SummerSlam.
