"Just never happened" - Former WWE star recalls scrapped plans for major feud with Randy Orton (Exclusive)
Former WWE star Afa Anoa'i Jr. recently spoke about his scrapped feud with Randy Orton and the rest of Legacy. The star was set for a major rivalry with the faction.
Legacy comprised Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr., with Orton as the leader. The faction was one of the dominant forces on the roster, destroying the babyfaces that stood up to them.
On Sportskeeda Wrestling's Enter the Bloodline podcast, Anoa'i Jr. mentioned that there were plans for him and Sim Snuka to return to FCW for a short stint in 2009. He revealed that the creative team planned to repackage the duo as a babyface team to face Randy Orton and Legacy in a major feud. However, he said that things didn't pan out as expected and the program never happened.
"We were supposed to go back down to FCW for a stint. Tag team it up a little bit. None of that ever happened. That was the talk. You always hear rumors and whispers and stuff like that but those were actual talks. We were supposed to go down and get packaged up as a babyface team. Just never happened." [From 31:18 onwards]
Over the years, Randy Orton has become an in-ring veteran and a respected figure backstage in WWE. He recently competed in a title match, putting over Gunther at Bash in Berlin. The Viper also showed up as Kevin Owens' mystery partner on SmackDown against Grayson Waller and Austin Theory.
It will be interesting to see what's next for WWE's Apex Predator next on the blue brand.
