Kairi Sane breaks character to send heartwarming message after WWE Tour
Kairi Sane recently broke character on social media to send a heartwarming message to fellow wrestlers and her fans. Sane went home to Japan as part of WWE's tour of the country, their first in five years.
Unlike the last time WWE was in Japan, Sane came home as a heel rather than a face. She's still part of Damage CTRL with Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, and Asuka. She wrestled three times during the tour, losing all of her matches.
After losing an eight-woman tag team match on the first two nights, the final defeat was in a Women's World Title match against Liv Morgan. Despite the outcome of her matches, The Pirate Princess was still thankful for the experience and shared the following message to Shinsuke Nakamura, Meiko Satomura, and Asuka.
"He puts his heart and soul into his job as a professional wrestler, and is earnest, kind, funny, considerate, full of aura, yet always humble. They are my beloved seniors whom I respect from the bottom of my heart. I feel truly blessed to be able to fight alongside them in this way and to be able to learn from them so closely," Sane wrote as translated by Google.
Shinsuke Nakamura, Meiko Satomura, and Asuka are all in their 40s, which meant they served as mentors for Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky. They made the jump from wrestling at home in Japan to taking their talents to the United States to perform in WWE.
Kairi Sane was backstage at a recent non-WWE event
WWE has collaborated with several promotions this year, including Rossy Ogawa's Marigold. Iyo Sky even wrestled at their Summer Destiny event earlier this month, beating Utami Hayashishita. Kairi Sane was also backstage during the event and was pleasant to talk to, according to wrestler Myla Grace.
"I spoke to Kairi quite a bit because, obviously, she put my name forward (in getting me to Japan), and she came over and said hi. She was like, 'You're Nikki (Cross’) friend.' And I was like, 'Yeah, yeah, I know. Thank you so, so much. This has been the biggest dream come true. You have no idea how much like this means to me.' Then I think after having that chat, that's when I started getting emotional and everything started hitting me," Grace told WrestleZone.
Kairi Sane has been fantastic since returning to WWE last year, although she could use more wins moving forward.
