Karrion Kross reveals why WWE's proposition for gimmick change was denied
Karrion Kross has had a significant evolution over the years in terms of a character on WWE television. In 2024, he returned on the first SmackDown episode with a new faction, dubbed The Final Testament.
It turns out, that this group was originally intended to be a "militia occult group," according to Kross, something he was not interested in. He also noted that WWE considered to re-introduce him as a mixed martial artist.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, he admitted to being genuinely intrigued by this prospect, having a background in it already. However, The Doom Walker would have only accepted it if he was allowed to have lengthy matches on television, which was not practical:
"I wish we had 20 or 30 minutes. I would have walked down to Ken Shamrock's music. Give me the whole thing," Kross said.
Regarding The Final Testament, Karrion Kross elaborated on how the whole thing ultimately came into being:
"We all meet at the Performance Center and we start shooting these cryptic vignettes," Kross explained. "It was almost like 'Iron Man 3' with The Mandarin, and he had all these TVs behind him — Ben Kingsley, and he's like, 'You'll never see me coming'; these propaganda videos, you know? It was really cool. I loved the setup. Initially, the direction we were going in was almost like a militia occult group." [From 30:52 onwards]
Karrion Kross asked about potentially chasing a WWE title
Since January 2024, Karrion Kross has been leading The Final Testament. The group worked their way into the WrestleMania XL match card, facing Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits in a Philadelphia Street Fight at the event. They were together drafted to RAW afterward.
Although a program with the New Day was getting over among fans, unfortunately, the involvement of Odyssey Jones proved detrimental to the storyline. It was ultimately scrapped.
Throughout his WWE career thus far, Karrion Kross has only held the NXT Championship. When asked about getting back in the title hunt, Kross almost deflected the question. However, he noted that at the end of the day, the only two people pushed are the champion and the challenger:
"The only two people being pushed in a wrestling program are the champion and the contender. So people think someone gets a few wins they're being pushed, someone thinks they get one loss or a series of losses they're being buried. It's not true," he said.
The former NXT Champion has once again made it his mission to disband a tag team on RAW. This time, The Awesome Truth fell victim, as The Miz attacked R-Truth last week after some assistance from Kross.
