Kevin Nash says he refused to lose to WWE legend

Kevin Nash was one of WWE's biggest names before leaving the company to join WCW in 1996. In a recent episode of his podcast, the wrestling legend recalled how he refused to lose to The Ultimate Warrior shortly before his departure.

Warrior cemented his status as a top fan favorite in WWE in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The controversial star left the company in 1992 before returning in 1996 after mending his relationship with then-WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

Nash said on Kliq This that he agreed to lose to anyone on the roster before heading to WCW. However, he changed his mind when McMahon suggested Warrior's name:

"When I left I told Vince I'd do what favors he wanted," Nash stated. "He said, 'Warrior.' I said, 'No, I'm not doing him a favor.' To me, he wasn't one of the boys. I'll put Mark [The Undertaker] over f***ing 350 [days a year], from now until I leave, everywhere, and I did, or took a kick [Sweet Chin Music] from Shawn [Michaels] at house shows. I was a heel, it didn't matter." [From 2:05:11 – 2:05:40]

Warrior's 1996 return did not last long. The former WWE Champion defeated wrestlers including Goldust, Jerry Lawler, and Triple H before leaving the company after three months.

Kevin Nash addresses the Montreal Screwjob incident

In 1997, Bret Hart famously lost the WWE Championship to Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series without knowing a title change would happen. The WCW-bound Hitman had real-life issues with Michaels and refused to lose against his rival in front of his adoring fans in Montreal.

Had he been in the same position as Hart, Detroit-born Kevin Nash would have agreed to lose the title to a major rival:

"If I had the belt and I was gonna leave and it just so happened that we had a pay-per-view in Detroit, I'm not too sure I wanna lose in my hometown. I woulda done it [reluctantly lost]." [From 2:05:44 – 2:05:59]

Nash also revealed what he thinks about Vince McMahon following the release of the Mr. McMahon docuseries on Netflix.
