Kevin Owens is afraid WWE legend will block him, explains why
Ahead of arguably the biggest match of his career to date, WWE Superstar Kevin Owens expressed his disappointment with a legendary name. Despite his belief that a bout can happen, the legend appears to be done with wrestling.
Owens managed to get Stone Cold Steve Austin out of retirement after 19 years. During a recent interview, when asked which other legend he wishes to face, the former Universal Champion stated that it has always been WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, but then The Heartbreak Kid has no interest in it.
Speaking on MuscleManMalcolm ahead of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, Kevin Owens noted that for the last three years, he has been trying to get Michaels to lace up a pair of boots again, but to no avail. He joked that the Hall of Famer probably underwent triceps surgery just to avoid having a match with him:
"Well, the answer is always Shawn Michaels and I really try pretty much every year. I think I'm done trying now, though. I think he's pretty much—it's three years running, he's politely said no to me. The next time I ask, he'll probably just tell me to F off, to say it nicely. I think last year he literally had triceps surgery just to avoid the question."
When the host suggested pushing the legend some more, Kevin Owens revealed that he fears Shawn Michaels will block him at this point. However, The Prizefighter is certain that The Showstopper can pull it off if he wants to:
"But yeah, I'd love to wrestle Shawn Michaels. I'm sure he would still be able to put in a performance like no other. I've no doubt. But he's done with it, you know? He's done. Trust me, I've tried. I would love that too, but I don't know, I think he's really done. I think I'm teetering on the verge of him blocking me," Owens stated. [From 4:42 to 5:44]
Kevin Owens vs. Cody Rhodes will headline WWE Saturday Night's Main Event
After failing at Bash in Berlin, Kevin Owens will get another shot at dethroning Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on December 14 in Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Long Island, New York. Will the second time be a charm for The Prizefighter?
Owens is set to headline Saturday Night's Main Event this Saturday as he will take on Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Whether he manages to pull off the victory that nobody legitimately believes will happen remains to be seen. Needless to say, Owens has earned the opportunity for another reign with the company's top prize.
