Kevin Owens did not live up to "the hype" at WWE show, according to Hall of Famer (Exclusive)

Kevin Owens is rightfully considered one of the best stars to watch out for in WWE. However, his recent work has apparently disappointed an NWA Hall of Famer.

The Hall of Famer in question, Bill Apter, had a lot of good things to say about Saturday Night's Main Event. However, he also had some complaints regarding the show. Apter was especially excited to see the showdown between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes, considering how The Prizefighter turned heel and started doing what he did best.

On Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, hosted by Mac Davis, Apter said the following about Owens' performance at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event:

"The hype that didn't live up to was, unfortunately, to me, was Kevin Owens. I was waiting for him to come out like a madman, and he didn't go crazy till after the match when he and Triple H got into it. So that was a little less exciting than I thought it would be." [4:22 onwards]

A WWE veteran is very impressed with Kevin Owens' heel turn

While Bill Apter is not quite happy with Kevin Owens' performance at SNME, Dutch Mantell is pleased with the SmackDown star's recent heel turn.

On Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Mantell recently explained how the heel turn was perfectly executed.

"He has a point. He could make a point this is how it led up to this. Remember this, I was told this many many years ago by an old-time wrestler. He said a great heel is always the victim. Always. He had a point. Whoever is writing this story is making him a great heel." [27:51 onwards]

It remains to be seen what is next for Kevin Owens. He currently has the Winged Eagle version of the WWE Title in his possession.
