Kevin Owens reveals major WWE rule is now defunct

Kevin Owens has been handed an Undisputed WWE Championship shot at Bash in Berlin, but it seems that this comes after Owens made it clear that a major Vince McMahon rule was now defunct.

Owens made it clear to Nick Aldis backstage that Roman Reigns shouldn't be handed a rematch for his title because the rematch rule was defunct and had not been used for years. Owens even used the fact that he wasn't given a rematch when he lost his Universal Championship to Goldberg.

It was this rant that led to Nick Aldis making the match between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes official for Bash in Berlin on August 31st since it's clear that Roman Reigns has other things on his mind.

Bash in Berlin is in just over three weeks, and it seems that Reigns wants to get even with his own cousin first. If he were to accept a title match before then, The Bloodline would be waiting in the wings to cost him the title in the same way he cost Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam.

Reigns was champion for four years, but it seems that despite this, rematches in WWE now need to be earned rather than contractually granted.
