Kevin Owens's recent behavior compared to Randy Orton; The Viper responds
Randy Orton evidently can't wait to get his hands on Kevin Owens at WWE Crown Jewel tomorrow night. When he joined Michael Cole during the Kickoff, the veteran stirred the pot by reminding The Viper of his demeanor many years ago.
Longtime fans of the WWE program are well aware of Orton's career, and how he often got himself in trouble, both in and out of the ring. He especially gained notoriety for his erratic behavior. However, The Viper, 44, has turned a new leaf in recent years.
Speaking to Michael Cole on the Crown Jewel Kickoff, Randy Orton admitted he was rebellious, irresponsible, and out of control once upon a time. But then he pointed out to Cole and the fans in attendance how different the two situations are when the commentator compared his behavior to that of Kevin Owens:
"Michael, the difference between Kevin Owens now and Randy Orton then is, Randy Orton then was just a punk, little 25-year-old kid who had his whole life in front of him and didn't understand the game," Orton said. "Kevin Owens is a grown a** man. Kevin Owens is going to pay for his mistakes. Kevin Owens suckerpunched me, so I'm going to break his teeth."
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes responds to potential title defense against Randy Orton
Cody Rhodes's challenger ahead of Survivor Series: WarGames on November 30 could be established at Crown Jewel, depending on who walks away with the win between Randy Orton and Kevin Owens. While there have been reports aplenty that The Prizefighter is next in line, it is not out of the realm of possibility The Viper jumps the line should he defeat the former Universal Champion in Saudi Arabia.
WWE analyst Sam Roberts and Chris Van Vliet speculated on Insight with Chris Van Vliet the chances of The Viper taking the title away from Cody Rhodes ahead of WrestleMania 41. According to the Undisputed WWE Champion, though, in order for a match with The Legend Killer to get booked, a lot of things need to happen before:
"A lot would have to happen for that match to take place. That's a real relationship, and friendship, and the mentor and the student, but it is certainly not something I would back down from. [...] If it happens, that's a lot of drama. But right now, no plans for it," Cody Rhodes said.
Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton is a high-profile match that WWE can use to sell any major show. With Survivor Series: WarGames being a "Big Four" event, whether it gets booked in the coming weeks remains to be seen.
