Kofi Kingston opens up about tension with Xavier Woods ahead of The New Day's 10th anniversary in WWE
Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston's friendship on WWE TV has been strained recently due to their differing opinions on The New Day's direction. Ahead of the faction's 10th anniversary in the company, the former World Champion spoke about his ongoing issues with Woods.
A few months ago, The Final Testament's Karrion Kross seemingly manipulated Woods, sowing seeds of doubt about his future with The New Day. Since then, tensions have risen between the 38-year-old star and Kingston as the duo has struggled to see eye-to-eye. Meanwhile, Big E has been sidelined since March 2022 due to an injury.
In a recent interview with The New York Post, Kofi Kingston was asked about the challenges he and Woods have been facing, despite their decade-long friendship.
The former WWE Champion admitted to occasional disagreements with Xavier Woods. However, he emphasized that The New Day's shared goal is to help each other succeed.
"There’s definitely, like clearly a little bit of tension, right? But I look at it like anybody who has siblings knows that you get into tiffs. You butt heads a little bit. But at the end of the day, like you realize what the big picture is, you know, you realize that you have the same goals and that you want your partner to have the best treatment, and you want them to achieve all the successes that they can achieve," Kingston said. Kofi Kingston hints at Big E's potential WWE return
As mentioned earlier, Big E hasn't been seen on WWE TV since he suffered a serious neck injury on an episode of SmackDown. He got hurt in a tag team match pitting him and Kingston against Sheamus and Ridge Holland.
Amid his in-ring absence, the 38-year-old powerhouse has appeared at WWE Premium Live Events as an analyst.
During the same interview with The New York Post, Kofi Kingston said he wished to see Big E appear at The New Day's 10-year anniversary. He added that the celebration would feel incomplete without E.
"I don’t think that we can have a New Day celebration without Big E there. It wouldn’t feel right. It wouldn’t taste right, you know? So I’m hoping he’s available," Kingston said.
Only time will tell whether The New Day will officially split on its 10th anniversary. Will Big E return to bring Kingston and Woods back on the same page? Fans must stay tuned to find out.
