LA Knight explains controversial new WWE merch design

WWE United States Champion LA Knight has shared an update on social media explaining the idea behind his newly launched T-shirt's design. The Megastar has recently become one of the wrestling promotion's leading merchandise sellers.

The 41-year-old won his first-ever title since joining the main roster at SummerSlam. He defeated Logan Paul to become the United States Champion, ending The Maverick's 273-day title reign. Knight will defend his title for the first time against Legado Del Fantasma's Santos Escobar, who defeated Andrade in the No. 1 Contendership Match last week on WWE SmackDown.

LA Knight took to his Instagram account earlier today to endorse his merchandise. He explained the basic idea behind his newly launched T-shirt. Knight pointed out that the "I LACK PEOPLE SKILLS' on the merch is something that has often been said about him. He added he can not change who he is:

"It’s been said about me many times… I can’t help being who I am! Go get you one now at the link in my bio and @wweshop #LAKnight #YEAH," he wrote.

Santos Escobar fires shots at LA Knight following WWE SmackDown

After ending Logan Paul's record-breaking title reign at The Biggest Party of The Summer, Knight walked out to celebrate on SmackDown. However, he was interrupted by Santos Escobar, who went on to become the No 1. contender for the United States Championship later the same night.

After the show, Escobar spoke to Byron Saxton on SmackDown Lowdown. The former NXT Cruiserweight Champion explained why he came out to interrupt Knight's celebration, claiming the celebration was a facade and the latter has no heritage, culture and family backing him:

"I just couldn't stay there and watch that so-called celebration. You see, this whole LA Knight as a champion thing, or movement or whatever you wanna call it, I don't buy it. It just does not compute. You see him saying he's got this, that, and the other. Look at me. I truly deserve that opportunity. I should be the United States Champion. I will be the US Champion. Why? Because I have tradition, heritage, culture, [and] family, of which he has none. And I will become the new United States Champion. Like I said, with everybody saying, Es-Co-Bar Si," he said.[From 3:47 - 4:45]

Santos Escobar has yet to win a championship on the main roster. It will be interesting to see if he can upstage LA Knight to become the new WWE United States Champion.
