LA Knight explains why his promos seem organic and real

LA Knight is one of the most beloved WWE Superstars on the main roster. His ability to cut intense yet organic promos is second to none. The Megastar recently revealed what makes him so believable on the mic.

Knight made his main roster debut in 2022 as Max Dupri and was part of the Maximum Male Models. However, he soon left the faction, which also featured Maxxine Durpi and former WWE Superstars Mace and Mansoor. After leaving the stable, he reverted to the name he had used earlier on NXT, LA Knight.

The 41-year-old started a rivalry with Bray Wyatt towards the end of the year, which saw the two superstars lock horns in a Mountain Dew Pitch Black match at Royal Rumble 2023. Despite losing to the late WWE Superstar, the feud turned out to be a major turning point in LA Knight's career. He instantly became one of the crowd favorites, thanks to his incredible promos.

During a recent interview with POST Wrestling, Knight opened up about his promo work. The former Million Dollar Champion claimed that he usually has a basic outline of what he is going to say, but he doesn't have a whole speech laid out for him.

"It’s a little more structured in WWE than anywhere else I’ve ever been. But generally, I would say, nine times out of ten throughout most of my career, I have an idea where I’m going. I have a road map. I know how I’m gonna start, and I know how I’m gonna finish. I know what I’m gonna talk about, but I don’t have a whole speech laid out," he said.

LA Knight also revealed something that helped him in his past was getting comfortable with the other person without having a speech prepared, he kept it real and that's what helped him sound organic and natural on the microphone.

"One of the things that I would always say before I go out there is I’d probably look at somebody and be like, ‘I don’t know what I’m about to say, but we’re gonna figure it out here altogether.’ And that’s kind of how it’s worked for me. I think that keeps it organic. It keeps it real; it keeps it fresh. And really, again, as long as I know where I’m going and what I’m talking about, I’m ready to go," he said. [H/T: Wrestlezone]

LA Knight fails to win at Money in the Bank two years in a row

LA Knight defeated Logan Paul and Santos Escobar on the June 28 edition of SmackDown in the Money in the Bank Qualifying Match. Following the win, he headed into the MITB LAdder Match as one of the favorites to secure the win.

However, Drew McIntyre unhooked the briefcase and won the MITB contract, only to have a failed cash-in attempt later the same night. This was Knight's second loss in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match in as many years. He was the crowd favorite to grab the briefcase last year, but The Judgment Day's Damian Priest had other ideas.

The Archer of Infamy won the match and cashed in the contract to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL from Drew McIntyre.

After the disappointment of Money in the Bank, LA Knight might go back to his feud against Logan Paul for the United States Championship. It must be noted that despite being one of the top names on SmackDown, The Megastar has yet to win a title since moving to the main roster.
