LA Knight set for major WWE SmackDown segment
LA Knight is returning to WWE SmackDown as champion. The growing fan-favorite dethroned Logan Paul in the latter's hometown at SummerSlam on Saturday and is now ready to cement his legacy. However, Knight must make a non-negotiable stop on tonight's SmackDown.
The Megastar defeated The Maverick for the WWE United States Championship in just 12 minutes at the 37th annual SummerSlam PLE, despite interference from Paul's lackeys and rapper MGK. The former Eli Drake chased Undisputed Championship gold earlier in the year but finally secured his first main roster championship this past weekend.
Knight is scheduled to celebrate his first United States Championship reign on tonight's SmackDown.
"New United States Champion LA Knight will hit the ring to celebrate his title victory against Logan Paul at SummerSlam. Anything can happen when The Megastar comes to the blue brand with his gold TONIGHT at 8/7 C on FOX," reads the official preview.
Andrade vs. Santos Escobar was previously announced for SmackDown, with the winner becoming the new #1 contender to Knight and his newly-won championship. The match is scheduled to air right after the celebration segment ends.
WWE has also announced the following for tonight's SmackDown in Tulsa, Oklahoma: Roman Reigns returns, A-Town Down Under vs. The Street Profits, DIY vs. Pretty Deadly in a #1 contender's match, Santos Escobar vs. Andrade in a United States Championship #1 contender's match, LA Knight celebrates United States Championship win.
