Landscape-changing main event for WWE RAW's Netflix launch show revealed
The main event for WWE RAW's debut on Netflix next month was revealed today. The red brand will be moving from the USA Network to Netflix on January 6, 2025.
WWE had a Kickoff Show for RAW's move to the streaming platform today, and the event took place at the company's headquarters. CM Punk and Seth Rollins had a confrontation during the show ahead of their match next month on RAW. Michael Cole announced during the event that Punk and Rollins would be the main event of RAW's debut show on Netflix next month.
Rollins and Punk got into a shoving match before being separated by Triple H today. The two stars were rumored to clash at WrestleMania XL, but Punk tore his triceps during the Men's Royal Rumble match, and the bout never took place.
Rhea Ripley will be challenging Liv Morgan for the Women's World Championship, and Solo Sikoa is set to square off against Roman Reigns in a Tribal Combat match as well on WWE RAW's debut on Netflix next month. Logan Paul also made an appearance during the Kickoff Show today, and it was revealed that he was the newest member of the RAW roster.
WWE reportedly has major plans for CM Punk in 2025
WWE reportedly has massive plans in store for CM Punk next year, which could involve a major title match.
Speaking on a recent episode of Live Q&A on Backstage Pass, WrestleVotes shared that the company wanted Punk to be involved with the World Heavyweight Championship next year. The wrestling insider added they were not sure how it would happen, but the company wants CM Punk at the top of the card.
"I've heard so many things on Punk, especially as of late, with Roman suff being thrown in there. But the one main factor that I've heard almost all year is that they want him to be involved in a world title match. I don't know how the puzzle pieces are going to fit. But you know, they want him at the top." [27:48 onwards]
CM Punk teamed up with Roman Reigns and the OG Bloodline in the Men's WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series last month in exchange for a favor from Paul Heyman. The Second City Saint humorously joked that The Wiseman's favor was that he would be giving him his Netflix password earlier today.
