Legend wants Sting to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame (Exclusive)
Sting was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016 after a brief run with the company as an in-ring competitor. In an exclusive interview, Lex Luger addressed the possibility of joining his long-time friend in the Hall of Fame.
Luger was one of wrestling's biggest names in the 1980s and 1990s. The 66-year-old held the WCW World Heavyweight Championship twice. He also co-won the 1994 Royal Rumble Match alongside Bret Hart.
Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Luger named Sting as the person he would like to induct him into WWE's elite group:
"Well, obviously, Stinger would be a great choice. Pops in my mind first, for sure." [5:47 – 5:50]
Luger works for WWE as an ambassador. The Total Package is among the most high-profile names yet to be added to the Hall of Fame.
WWE legend Lex Luger on his relationship with Sting
In 1988, Lex Luger and Sting won the Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament shortly after joining forces for the first time in the NWA. They later captured the WCW World Tag Team Championship in 1996 and became good friends outside the ring.
Luger added that he and Sting remain friends to this day. They even appear together at speaking events to discuss becoming born-again Christians.
"We're very close," Luger said. "We do do faith-based appearances together, yeah. Give our stories." [6:00 – 6:08]
On March 3, Sting retired from in-ring competition after 39 years in the wrestling business. The Vigilante teamed up with Darby Allin in his final match to defeat The Young Bucks at AEW Revolution.
Although Luger is contracted to WWE, he received permission to attend the AEW event to watch his friend's farewell.
