Legendary 1-time WWE Champion was 'never the same' after breaking both his leg and his hip, claims Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle is considered one of the greatest pro wrestlers in the world, although his career was derailed by multiple neck injuries. He had a lot of rivals in WWE, including Eddie Guerrero, who sustained serious injuries during his time with WCW.

The Olympic gold medalist was asked by a fan on his podcast about his time wrestling some top stars during the Ruthless Aggression Era. Angle said he enjoyed competing against superstars like Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, and John Cena.

However, Angle would have liked to wrestle a fully healthy Eddie Guerrero. He claimed that The Latino Heat suffered leg and hip injuries during his time in WCW and was never the same. The Wrestling Machine did praise the former WWE Champion for being better than most performers in the ring, despite the severity of his injuries.

"Eddie Guerrero, one of the best of all time. I mean even Eddie in WWE, I don't know a lot of people realize this. But Eddie broke his leg and his hip when he was in WCW and when he came back, he was never the same even though he was better than everybody else still. He was never the same as he was in WCW and it slowed him down just a little bit but he still is the best of all time because that's how good he was. I would have loved to wrestle Eddie before he broke his leg," he said on The Kurt Angle Show. [0:29 - 1:02]

Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero wrestled multiple times during the Ruthless Aggression Era. Whether it was tag team classics involving Angle and Chris Benoit against Los Guerreros or their feud for the WWE Championship in 2004, the duo never failed to impress.

Kurt Angle reveals his favorite WWE Superstar to wrestle

While Kurt Angle didn't have any trouble wrestling anyone inside a WWE ring, he still had his favorite to compete against when he was still active. Angle loved working with Rey Mysterio because the latter did all the hard work and took most of the bumps in their matches to make him look good.

"Rey was my favorite to work with back then. He was so easy to work with because he was smaller. He moved around, you know? All you had to do is [sic] catch him and he would do all the stunts for you. I really enjoyed wrestling with Rey." [0:16 - 0:28 in the video above]

Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio were part of the SmackDown Six that elevated the blue brand in the early 2000s. Other members of the SmackDown Six were Eddie and Chavo Guerrero, Edge, and Chris Benoit.
