Legendary character to finally return to WWE for the first time in 16 months, says analyst, after Finn Balor betrayed Damian Priest at SummerSlam 2024

A popular backstage WWE personality has predicted that a fan-favorite character may finally re-emerge after more than 16 months since we last saw him. Sam Roberts believes now that Finn Balor has shown his true colors and betrayed Damian Priest, he can bring back his "Demon" persona to feud with him.

One of the most shocking moments at SummerSlam 2024 saw Balor turning on Priest during the latter's World Heavyweight Title match against Gunther. The Archer of Infamy was so taken aback by the betrayal that it cost him the bout, and he lost his coveted title to The Ring General. The shocking turn of events is sure to be addressed on this week's WWE RAW, where the two could come face-to-face.

On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts recently predicted the fallout from the unexpected betrayal at SummerSlam. The RAW Talk host believed that the upcoming feud between Damian Priest and Finn Balor could see the latter reintroducing his "Demon" character to take on his former tag team partner.

"I'm already having visions of now that he's [Finn Balor] a true villain, The Demon coming back. Damian Priest vs. The Demon. I mean, it's just so cool," Sam Roberts said. (53:40 - 53:54)

Finn Balor on how the "Demon" character held him back in WWE

In an interview last year, Finn Balor shared his candid thoughts about the expectations surrounding his "Demon" gimmick. The former Universal Champion explained that during his time playing the eerie character, he was more focused on pleasing others with his work and, as such, couldn't enjoy it himself.

"It became a crutch. I'll hold my hand up and say I'm guilty of trying to please too many people and not please myself. The thing with that character, or even a lot of the stuff that I was doing in WWE in general, was a result of trying to please too many people, be it the creative team, the writing team, the merchandise team, the promotions team, the tickets team and not really pleasing myself."

We last saw Finn Balor in his Demon avatar at WrestleMania 39 Night Two. He lost to Edge, currently known as Adam Copeland in AEW, on April 2, 2023.
