Legendary star teases return and world title win 231 days after last appearing in WWE
An injured WWE star, who was last seen on the May 6 episode of RAW, recently teased going after a world championship. Asuka is still recovering from knee surgery but has set her sights on winning gold upon her potential return.
The Empress of Tomorrow underwent surgery days after losing the Women's Tag Team Championship at Backlash France. She had been dealing with the injury since earlier in the year before deciding to go under the knife.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Asuka shared a photoshopped image of herself with the WWE Women's, WWE Women's World, and NXT Women's championships. She held all three titles back when the first two were still named the RAW and SmackDown Women's championships, respectively.
Asuka has won the NXT Women's Championship once in her career before being called up to the main roster. She's also a one-time SmackDown Women's Champion and a three-time RAW Women's Champion.
It will be interesting to see whether she'll return as part of Damage CTRL or as a lone superstar looking to win gold. The company has also introduced two mid-card championships, the Women's United States and Intercontinental titles, so she has plenty of options.
Asuka reportedly signed a new WWE contract in September
At the age of 43, Asuka is still among the best women's wrestlers in the world today. She has been with WWE since 2015, spending two years on developmental before being called up to the main roster in 2017. She has even won the Royal Rumble and the Money in the Bank matches.
The Empress of Tomorrow has been a valuable asset to the company, so they signed her to a new contract. PWInsider Elite reported in September that the legendary star would remain with the biggest wrestling promotion in the world for the foreseeable future.
Asuka's legacy is already secured, but there are still plenty of things to accomplish and dream matches to fulfill. She also has some unfinished business with Bayley although the rest of Damage CTRL might have already forgiven her.
IYO SKY teamed up with Bayley at Survivor Series: WarGames, with Kairi Sane and Dakota Kai currently in a feud with the Pure Fusion Collective.
