Legendary WWE heel claims he was a babyface his entire career
Several WWE Superstars have often switched between playing a heel and a babyface throughout their careers. While these moves progress the storylines of their characters and also appeal to the fans, few wrestlers stick to their heel or face persona forever. Interestingly, however, a legendary WWE heel recently claimed that he played a face throughout his career.
John Bradshaw Layfield, popularly known as JBL was one of the biggest heels the Stamford-based promotion has ever seen. The superstar had initially started as a face, but later embraced the heel persona when the company needed it in the 2000s. Moreover, he is responsible for making John Cena, a forever babyface, into the biggest good guy in pro wrestling.
Despite this, upon being asked when he was a babyface in his career, JBL tweeted a humorous reaction to the question on X.
“My whole career. Fans love JBL.”
Thus, JBL claims to have the same career feat as John Cena, the man who kickstarted his legendary babyface run beating Layfield for his first WWE Title at WrestleMania 21. Interestingly, while JBL doesn’t count as a babyface wrestler, fans recently saw the babyface return of one of its biggest heel names of the current era at SummerSlam.
Former WWE Undisputed Champion turns face after years
The SummerSlam PLE in Cleveland saw the return of Roman Reigns to help his rival Cody Rhodes. While The American Nightmare had ended Reigns’ 1316-day championship reign at WrestleMania XL, The Original Tribal Chief returned as a babyface to take down Solo Sikoa.
Sikoa had become overly lethal and notorious for the SmackDown locker room and was continuously insulting Reigns while he was away. However, despite having The Samoan Werewolf Jacob Fatu by his side, Solo got Speared by the original Head of The Table. With this, the former Undisputed WWE Champion may now reclaim the Ula Fala, but this time, as a hero.
It would be interesting to see how Solo and his dangerous crew react to Roman Reigns usurping them from their temporary high ground.
